NAMI Greater Houston’s “Connections Support Groups” are made up of individuals living with a mental illness; living in recovery, just diagnosed with a mental illness or experiencing the symptoms of a mental illness.
All Connections Support Groups are facilitated by trained facilitators who have lived experiences with a mental illness.
When you attend one of our Connections Support Groups, you will find that you are not alone. People who have been through, or are going through similar circumstances can do more than sympathize with you – they can relate to what you are going through. Our support group meetings are a great place to find practical tips and resources to help guide you in your recovery.
Support groups are a great place to make invaluable connections. Meeting others helps individuals feel less alone and isolated. Our support groups provide a safe, caring and understanding environment that can help participants regain lives once lost.
In addition, our Connections Support Groups will often encourage participants to seek out professional treatment for the first time or persuade others to take a more active role in their existing treatment plan. Lastly, making connections and witnessing the success of others provides a roadmap of hope for those impacted by mental illness.
In NAMI Support Groups, we encourage members to never give up hope! Simply put, we’ve been there and we can help.
Connections Support Group meetings are free, confidential and open to individuals affected by mental illness. All meetings are 90 minutes in duration.
